All of us know that at the end of 2013, there were more than one million apps in stores of Apple and Google, Apps have made their presence from entertainment, publishing and games through to the enterprise and education sectors. These apps have attracted big investments, made billions of dollars in revenues, today we are here to see that what will be the big trends around apps and the developers in 2014. Here we will be discussing that what will be the new making and release by new comers and well known brands. Not taking much of your time let’s move on tot the Top 10 App trends for 2014.
Top 10 App Trends For 2014
Here we are discussing about the Top 10 App Trends that we need in the year 2014. Not taking much of your time let’s move on to the topic and discuss each point one by one;
1. App Crash is Coming:
This is first trend in Top 10 trends for 2014. Apple has recently figures for 2013 which was around $8bn paid out to iOS developers over the year. That means wit a average of around $8k per app. There are very small number of apps that are making big money, and a lot of apps are making diddly-squat. Tehre are many startup companies that raised finance but they are struggling to make money from them. In the year 2014 we feel that the people who failed will come back with new ideas, wiser for the lessons learned first time round. Companies who have good technology will find willing “acquihirers” in the likes of Facebook, Google, Apple and others.
2. Messaging Apps Spread Their Wings
In 2013 we have seen rapid growth of messaging apps, like WeChat, Line, KakaoTalk, WhatsApp, Kik, Snapchat (again) and the BBM. Teenagers are not quitting Facebook, but they are just making a clear division between social network for communication with their families, and others to communicate with their friends. But it is true that most messaging apps are about much more than messaging. Working more with brands can be a key trend in 2014 as they will come move in an attempt to reach people who are no longer as engaged with Facebook.
3. Education, Education, Education
Year 2014 will be good for apps specially in education. Many companies has taken initiatives to get tablets into classrooms. There are many children who have access at home, but providing in schools will be key in ensuring that they don’t left on the other side of a new digital divide. Developers are in big tension about making educational apps and services that can raise all kinds of interesting questions. We will be working with all new terms and conditions. One of the most important trend in top 10 app trends for 2014
4. Step Into My Office
Next trend in Top 10 App Trends is step into the office. Many apps are going to be released in 2014 which are only going to be used by few hundred or thousand people. This is because companies are developing enterprise apps for their company employee only. This B2B apps can be useful in many ways like solving some of the problems of employees. This app will be used in changing the way people and companies do business. Just wait and watch for the rising numbers of tablets that will be making their way into workplaces.
5. iOS and Android Still Front-of-Mind for Developers
Why iOS is better than Android, or vice versa. The truth behind this is that developers are coming with a strategy of encompassing both. iOS is generating more revenues for developers, but Android has massive reach. It would be good to expect in 2014 even the most iOS-focused app categories putting more emphasis on Android. Children’s apps are a good example: until recently, developers of kids’ apps didn’t see a viable market on Android, but strong sales of Android tablets are helping to change that.
6. Privacy as a Priority
There was a recent Snapchat hack that has sharpened the debate around apps and privacy. This feels a bit old to geeks, but the point is that this realisation is crossing over hundreds of millions of normal people who now own smartphones and use apps like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, Skype, MyFitnessPal and any number of Google services. When this kind of apps play fast and loose with privacy, and/or get hacked, the collective freakout will travel faster and further than ever. Privacy is most important and it is considered as one of the Top 10 App Trends for 2014.
7. A Debate Around Free-to-Play Gaming
There are many people who comment on online articles about free online games. Developers who make freemium games are intent on producing soulless, cynical, cash-grabbing software. There are many commenter’s who are mum and don’t tend to comment on online articles about these games they’re busy in nailing level 172 of Candy Crush Saga. There won’t be any more angry comments but debate could be more constructive in 2014. This will require some evolution in accepted ways to make money from free games. 2013 provided masses of data on how different methods work, but 2014 will be the year when that data informs more great games, rather than dominates mediocre ones.
8. New platforms, new gimmicks. But then what?
In many cases, it’s about the technological challenge of doing it, rather than a firm sense of why it should be done. There are lot of apps who’s main function will be to shift notifications from your smartphone to your wrist or eyes. That’s not really interesting. Apps made for the people and their behaviour, rather than just for the hardware. What might normal people want from Glass-style augmented eyewear? What do normal people want a smart watch to do?
9. Disruption versus regulation
The leading lights of the “sharing economy” pride themselves on their companies’ disruptive qualities, but the debate around this can often feel like an “are you with us or against us?” situation. Criticise these startups, and you’re part of the entrenched interests of the old economy. We’ll see more of this in 2014. Sometimes it’ll be cities slapping silly penalties on sharing-economy startups, like Uber drivers having to wait for 15 minutes before picking up a passenger in France
10. Time to think about putting down the device?
Last trend but not the least in Top 10 App Trends is to think about putting down the device. This may be wishful thinking, but I’m an optimist. The most innovative apps in 2014 might just be the ones that help us to put our devices away a little more often.
